Last Sunday, the 17th, we had a good turnout for gardening in the Park with 17 of us, We concentrated on the Sunderland Street Entrance, which is now taking a bit of shape after the poplar tree came down in spring (the logs are still there after 6 months…..), the Memorial Garden, and the north of the park.
The Trees are starting to put on their autumn colours, but the highlight at the moment is the Eleagnus at the north entrance of the park. The group of glossy leaved evergreen bushes are not very interesting for most of the year, but now they are flowering. Even the flowers are insignificant, but the scent is wonderful. Walk past and appreciate – they wont be flowering for long but the next few weeks will be worth the detour.
