Viburnum rhytidophyllum originates from China, Hubei and Sechuan etc., and is a  vigorous, large leaved shrub bearing  umbel-like corymbs of creamy flowers in spring which produce red fruit, ripening to black. The leaves are shiny, deep blue-green, and deeply veined, and on the underside are creamy white with buff scales on the veins.
