J10: Japanese Crab Apple: Malus floribunda

A usually broad crowned tree with single flowers amongst the foliage with the leaves pubescent on the under surface. It was introduced from Japan in 1862 and is common in gardens and streets. The fruit are resistant to scab and it usually flowers and fruits freely. This is one of our national champions.
