This year the Park was recommended as the site of seven new cherry trees to commemorate the achievements of volunteers around Bath and North East Somerset. The award plaques can be seen in the gallery below. The trees were planted by the middle entrance in Henrietta Street, where we have one of the last remaining Kanzan cherries that were such a feature of the Park years ago. They should make a startling addition to the park in a few years time when they begin to flower in all their glory.
The varieties planted are as follows:
3x Prunus ‘Pandora’ – light pink blossom, vase shaped crown
2x Prunus serrulata ‘Taihaku’ – white blossom, fan shaped crown
2x Prunus sargentii – rosy pink blossom, compact rounded crown
