J07: Weeping Silver Lime, Tilia tomentosa var petiolaris
Silver Lime is a large tree with heart shaped leaves, it originates from Southeastern Europe to Turkey. Var petiolaris with drooping leaves may be a hybrid. Its scented flowers open in spring and the characteristic round fruit are suspended beneath a large wing that helicopters the seeds on the breeze. It is resistant to pollution. Lime trees are messy, continually dropping branches, leaves, and fruits throughout the year.
