K03: Lawson Cypress, Chamaecyparis lawsoniana
This conifer comes from the mountains of North California and South Oregon. Ubiquitous gardens and parks in both its type form and numerous cultivars. The leavesare scale like and dark green with a resinous scent when crushed. Male flowers are terminal on the finest ultimate branchlets, the female are terminal on small branchlets well behind the tips of the sprays, and develop into 7mm diam woody cones.
