B06: Kanzan Cherry, Prunus serrulata Kanzan
This is a fine flowering cherry developed in the Edo period in Japan (1603-1867) from the white flowered Oshima cherry tree. It has a a spreading habit, to 9 m high and 8 m spread, and double flowers usually dark pink in colour. It probably the most popular cherry tree planted in European gardens, growing well in cold regions.
